txAdmin Failed to Start – Port Already in Use

txAdmin Port Conflict (Port xxxxx Already in Use)

Why This Happens

txAdmin uses a dedicated web port (commonly 40120) to run its management interface. This port is automatically assigned and managed by our hosting platform.

This error occurs when that port is already in use, most commonly due to:

  • A second txAdmin instance attempting to start on the same server

  • A previously stopped service not releasing the port correctly

  • A manual configuration change that altered port assignments

  • Another internal service temporarily occupying the port

When this happens, txAdmin is unable to start and the server may fail to launch properly.

Important Notice – Do Not Change txAdmin Ports

We do not recommend that customers modify, update, or manually assign txAdmin ports.

txAdmin port mappings are tightly integrated with our infrastructure. Changing them manually can cause:

  • txAdmin becoming unreachable

  • Server startup failures

  • Port conflicts with other services on the node

For this reason, txAdmin ports should only be modified by our support team.

What To Do If You Encounter This Error

If you see a message indicating that port 40120 is already in use:

  1. Do not attempt to change any ports

  2. Open a support ticket immediately

  3. Include the error message from your server console

Our support team will:

  • Identify the port conflict

  • Reassign txAdmin to the correct available port

  • Restart and verify your server is functioning normally

This is a backend configuration issue and will be resolved for you.
